The proprietor, Stephen M. Scott, is an Iowa licensed Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor. He graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1992 and has been employed in the civil engineering field from that time. Since 1997 he has been involved in private consulting in the Cedar Rapids area with most of that time spent in land surveying.
Scott is well trained and experienced in the tools necessary to perform civil engineering and surveying functions. His IDOT training includes aggregate gradation, p.c.c. field & plant inspection, and h.m.a. plant certification. Other training includes culvert hydraulics, bridge inspection, Geopak, Microstation, Autodesk Land Development Desktop, and real estate license training. The tools he has experience with include several CADD packages and survey equipment packages.
His experience encompasses engineering design to field survey in practically all phases of land development. As a civil engineer Scott did construction inspection and county bridge inspection. He designed county highway grading and paving projects, city street, sanitary and storm sewer, bridge rehabilitation, residential subdivisions, private commercial sites, an elementary school site, a new car dealership, a two-acre pond, and a FEMA flood plain study. As a surveyor Scott has worked in almost all areas of platting, including concept, drafting, and submittal to local governments. His experience in construction ranges from preparing stakeout information for surveyors to actual field work staking. That construction staking experience even includes Union Pacific Railroad crossover grading and a taxiway/runway at the Eastern Iowa Airport.
